I am very happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to serve on the IWC Board as Hostess Chairperson this Club Year 2006 - 2007. I have communicated with many members by phone and by e-mail in connection with lunch registrations and remain with a feeling that this is truly a wonderful club composed of many wonderful and unique women.

My job as the Hostess Chairperson was greatly facilitated by the loyal and hard working members of the Hostess Committee:Rhoda Anden, Barbara Bruszt, Esther Bureta, Clara Domby Welander, Sarmite Ghaffarpour, Gudrun Gimpel, Lidia Gråberg, Luisa Hugoson, Teresa Ivars, Yadira Jondal, Carin Ljungman, Tamara Olofsson, Countess Csilla Patachich, Zorica Salijevic, Lea Silander, Elisa van Sevendonck, Lilian Wennerholm, Brigitte Frick-Meijer and especially Louise Wretman Close. No words are enough to express my thanks to all of you, dear ladies, for taking the monthly calls, collecting money at the luncheons, sharing your invaluable experiences with me.

I am especially grateful to: Louise for helping me in checking the lists of the participants and being my right hand and my chief consultant; to Esther for supervising the table arrangements at the Operaterrassen on luncheon days, bringing the little gifts to the luncheon guests and accompanying me and Yadira on our quest for new luncheon venues; to Zorica and Barbara for teaching me the Excel program on the computer; to Elisa for her secretarial assistance; to all the ladies for taking calls but especially to Brigitte and Rhoda for always being ready to step in and help out on moments notice, to Liliane who had broken her arm and hand and still wanted to take calls because she had promised. Many thanks to Gudrun , Luisa and Lea for standing with Esther at the entrance table and greeting the guests with kind words and beautiful smiles; to Teresa for bringing the Stockholm Bulletin for our guests; to Barbara, Luisa, Tamara, Lidia and
Carin for being cashiers; to my dear friend Sarmite for taking my place as the Hostess for the January luncheon while I was away in India. Last but not least I would like to thank Debora House-Bengtsson for the lovely name-place cards and for the beautiful Valentine’s Day table decorations at Ulla Windbladh and for decorating the tables for the April luncheon in the Operaterrassen.

I would like to thank all the members of the Executive Board for their creative ideas and advice but especially to Lauren, Liliane, Debora, Annika and Grace. I enjoyed working with Ludmila Thurne and Olga Bexborg and was sorry when they left the Board. One member of the Hostess Committee, our dear friend Csilla, is very ill but courageous in fighting against all odds with the horrible disease that has invaded her body. But her spirit is very strong and she will survive. After all the many radiation treatments finally the cancer is gone and the prognosis is good. Let us pray that soon she will join us in our monthly luncheons.

I was very happy that we returned to Operaterrassen for the greater part of the year. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Maurizio Barberis, Banqueting Manager Operakällaren AB, who was most cooperative and generous in lowering our monthly luncheon and cloak room fees, for having the waiters back at the entrance to take the money and for going out of his way to meet with our many requests.

In January and February we met at Ulla Windbladh for our lunches. I would like to thank Hannah Williamsson, the manager, for being very considerate, kind and helpful to our guests and providing us with excellent food.

This year’s unique experience was the invitation, by H E Mr. Michael Wood, the American Ambassador and his wife, our dear member, Mrs. Judy Wood, to have lunch in their private residence in March. More than 100 members of our club had the opportunity to meet and feel the generosity of the hosts in the wonderful surroundings of their home. We are so very grateful to you for showing your warmth and sharing the true American spirit with all of us.

Respectfully submitted,
Aldona Vasaityte Sehgal
