IWC-Stockholm visit to IWC Dublin

Dear Ladies,

IWC Dublin had their 25th jubilee in March this year ‐ Lauren and I received an invitation. Unfortunately, due to her work, Lauren could not participate.

With pleasure I accepted the invitation and flew to Dublin on the 7th of March. All foreign guests were booked into The Conrad Dublin Hotel. The same day in the afternoon we were greated by the president of IWC Dublin, Mrs. Philippa Cottle. We had a very nice afternoon together with all the foreign IWC guest ladies and that same evening we were invited to a reception and a truly unique dining experience at St. Patrick´s Hall, Dublin Castle in aid of Sonas, their chosen charity.

On Thursday the members of IWC Dublin invited us for a bus tour to the south coast and and powerscourt gardens ‐I had the opportunity to speak with all ladies from different sister clubs ‐ amongst them, Norway, England, France,The Netherlands
(Mrs. Ismelda Pellet ‐ the president of Open Door, Haag) . Also with members of the Dublin club I had a very nice exchange of club experiences.

In the evening we were invited by the Minister of State, Mr. Noel Treasy, to a reception at the Department of Foreign Affairs. On Friday morning we (appr. 60 participants) had a Forum in the Chester Beatty Library (at the Conrads). The Forum and discussion was about ‐ How can  the Irish keep their reputation as a welcoming nation ‐ very interesting indeed because we were so many foreigners and from my own perspective I have to mention that with pleasure I say: The Irish are a very warm and welcoming nation!

In the evening we, together with many members, had the pleasure to visit a very famous Irish Pub where we were invited for dinner and Irish music and dancing. On Saturday we went on a Dublin City Center tour on foot which was guided by the very intern. wellknown Dubliner Mr. Pat Liddy .

In the evening, the final celebration day, IWC Dublin invited us all to a big and great ball ‐ the Silver Ball. This evening I took the opportunity to present IWC Stockholm, thank them for their invitation, hand over some gifts and in the name of all the members of IWC, Stockholm and our president, I invited IWC, Dublin for a return visit any time of their liking.

Sunday morning I took the plane back to Stockholm. It was a very nice experience for me as international co‐ordinator to meet and exchange club matters with so many ladies from different countries and with different club procedures.
